SPC / SQC

" Succeed with SPC
and SQC on the
plant floor "

The majority of companies have historically been unsuccessful at adopting SPC on the plant floor. PARCView is designed for the control room.
Make control charts part on the operators' process dashboard and a tool for keeping stability. Intermingle process trends with control charts. Auto-populate control charts with new data and leave the control charts up 100% of the time. Auto-generate SPC alarms for out of control points. Deliver the benefits the industry has discussed for a decade.

Control Charting

Reduce over-steering of processes by providing operators with information necessary to determine actual process upsets versus normal variability. Intermingle control charts and process trends on the same display. Utilize identical troubleshooting features available in trend such as panning, zooming and sliding time-axis. Control charts are constantly updating creating an environment where operators continuously monitor process and quality variables

Grade / Product Based Limits

All limits (control, spec, shipping, alarm) can be standard or grade/product based. Therefore, as a plant transitions from one product to another, the corresponding limits will update. For example, if for an 8 hour shift you ran product A for 4 hours and product B for 4 hours, the 8 hour control chart would display product A's limits for the first 4 hours and product B's limits for the second 4 hours. No maintenance for operators. The control chart auto-updates

Limits Database

A limits management system is shipped with every PARCView system. This flexible system supports unlimited limit types for every tag (control, spec, alarm, shipping, 2 sigma, etc.).

In addition, limit versioning enables administrators to create modify limits while retaining the prior limit values. This is valuable for seasonality shifts in operating limits such as fresh water temperature and power usage.

Integrate with Any Limits Database

NDisplay grade based limits from your company’s spec management system such as Proficy, Majiq, Optivision and QMS (pulp & paper). Tie into any ODBC compliant data system to supply limit information on trends. PARCView’s ability to integrate and display limit information from any system eliminates maintenance of updating multiple systems, the delay time of seeing spec changes on the plant floor, the confusion of multiple spec versions floating around the plant, and the opportunity for shipping off-spec product.

SPC Rule Configuration

Configure one or more of the seven SPC rules to generate out of control events for each tag. SPC rules are tag specific enabling greater flexibility. When viewing a control chart, by hovering over an out of control event, a pop-up shows which SPC rule(s) were violated for the event.

Online Control Limit Calculation Screen

Manage control limits with PARCView’s control limit calculation module. As processes and specifications change, engineers and managers need an easy method to recalculate and store control limits.

Simply select a tag and time-span to retrieve data for the limit calculation. The data is shown both graphically and tabularly. A summary table shows the number of data points and currently configured control limits for each grade/product during the specified time-span.

Clicking the "Calc Limits" button calculates new limits based on the data in the selected time-span. The new/old limits are shown graphically and in the summary table. Filter out trial or experimental data, and entry errors from the limit calculation. Save new limits for individual grades or all grades at once. New limits are instantaneously updated on the plant floor control charts.

Special Cause Assignment

Quickly and easily assign root causes to out of control events from a predefined list of causes. Simply right-click on the control chart and select "Assign Cause". This launches a cause tree where users can assign specific causes to out of control events in addition to free text comments.

The cause tree is configurable and can have unlimited branches and sub branches. Once causes are assigned to an event, the red event indicator bar on the control chart is highlighted in green. Unassigned events remain red. When hovering over an event bar, a popup shows the start and end time of the event, the SPC rule(s) violated, the assigned cause and comment.

Pareto Analysis

Summarize and report special cause information in multiple methods with Pareto analysis tools. Simply right-click on a trend or control chart and select "Pareto". A pop-up enables you to select either a chart or tabular report.

Filter report by cause types (Electrical, Process, Mechanical, Maintenance, etc.). Select a Pareto based on number of occurrences of each cause, or elapsed time of each cause. Embed multiple Pareto charts in a web-page for easy reporting and distribution.

Histogram

Quickly view a distribution of time-based data utilizing DataPARC's histogram display. Simply right-click on a trend and select "Histogram" to launch the distribution. Easily designate min and max filters, and the number of intervals in the distribution from a popup.

A graphical histogram is displayed in addition to statistics such as average, std dev., min, max, count, range and percentiles.

X - Y Scatter with Regression

Display and understand correlations between variables with a couple clicks. Simply right-click on a trend with multiple tags and select X-Y Plot. From the drop-down menus select the X-Tag, Y-Tag and click "Plot". An X-Y plot with both linear and exponential fit lines and equations are displayed. Easily filter X and Y data and change interpolation settings. Quickly identify correlations with R-squared value.
