Trending

" Finally, a trending application designed with the end user in mind "

Trending is not trending. "A good trending application is the difference between solving the problem and not" states one of Capstone's customers. "Capstone has the best trending, by far, on the market".
To analyze vast amounts of time-based data, you need to effortlessly move tags around, add tags, change time-spans, sync other trends and quickly adjust time lags.
PARCView enables all ranges of PC users to easily build and manipulate trends in seconds. With powerful features such as drag & drop, time axis sliding, universal tag browser, multi-trend time syncing and smart-mouse, all users will make better decisions, troubleshoot more effectively and understand correlations.

Drag and Drop

Drag and drop multiple tags from the universal tag browser on to trends. Drag tags from one trend to another. Quickly add or replace tags on a trend by either dropping on top of another tag (replaces) or within the trend background (adds).

Right-Click Menu

Most features within PARCView trending are easily reachable through the right-click menu. This creates and easy to use and intuitive environment for troubleshooting and analysis.

Universal Tag Browser

Quickly view and search for tags by key using PARCView's Universal Tag Browser. The tag browser contain 3 tabs enabling the user to search for tags in 3 ways.

Firstly, the master tag tree allows tags, no matter the data source, to be organized under specific areas. This allows a plant with several data systems to organize the information in functional areas. This enables a logical search mechanism for users not familiar with the plant information systems or tag nomenclature.

Secondly, the select by source tab enables users to search for tags by data source, such as PI, Oracle, IP21 and PHD.

Thirdly, the recent tab enables users to quickly select from a list of recent used tags. When a user selects a tag by source or from the master tag tree, this tag is automatically added to the recent list.

Collapse, Expand, Pan, Slide & Zoom Time Ranges

Navigate time-spans effortlessly with an assortment of tools. To expand the time-span simply click the 2X button on the x-axis of a trend. To shift the time-span either click the forward or backward buttons on the time axis of the trend or click and slide the x-axis forward or backwards. The time-axis sliding is a huge time saver when trying to quickly locate a process upset. Once you've found the process upset, zoom by highlighting a time range, right-clicking and selecting zoom. The trend is redrawn for the highlighted time-span. Continue zooming using the same method. Once you've identified the appropriate time frame, it sure would be nice to redraw the other 11 trends during this narrowed time-span. Simply, right-click and select "Sync". The other 11 trends will sync to the identical time frame.

Blow Up Trend

Right-click on a trend and select "Clone" to blow up one trend from a multi-trend display. This clone is a copy of the original trend, but blown up. You can add tags from other trends or the tag browser, zoom, pan, slide....everything you would do on the original. When you close this clone, the original remains unchanged.

Smartmouse

Right-click on a trend and select the SmartMouse. As you move the mouse around on a trend, the timestamp and tag values at the associated timestamp are displayed. Selecting the Multi-SmartMouse displays all tag values on all trends within a multi-trend display.

Markers

Enables quick viewing and calculation of step changes. Simply right-click on trend and select Markers. Slide markers to any two points in time. View instantaneous tag values at each marker along with the delta (difference between marker 1 and marker 2 values).

Export to MS Excel

Easily export data from a trend into excel for custom analysis, generation of reports and calculations. Dialog box enables user to specify several interpolation options. Simply right-click on trend and select export data.

Projection Trending

Display projected future data on trend from external programs such as control models, simulations, work in process inventory and calculated tags. Easily turn on and off projection with right-click. A practical example is a downstream process viewing trends of critical properties in upstream stock. Using flow rates and tank volumes, a continuous residence time is calculated enabling downstream processes to view current properties of stock running in process in addition to the future properties of stock heading their way. A vertical blue line in trend represents current time. Values to the right of blue line represent projected data.

Set Lag Times

Manually set time differences for tags on trend to display process correlations with inherent time lags. The delta time expression can either be fixed (such as 5 minutes) or variable based on calculated tag expression. Simply right-click on trend to set delta time property.

Tabular Reports with Statistics

Easily view data for each tag on trend in tabular format with statistics such as count, average, standard deviation, minimum and maximum. Place min and max filters on tabular data and statistics to remove noise, data entry errors and flyers. Export data and statistics to excel directly from tabular report.

Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) View

To perform frequency analysis on process data, simply right-click on trend and select FFT. User can toggle back and forth between FFT and Trend display types.

Easy Y - Axis Scaling

Quickly change the y-axis scale by clicking in the trend header and typing in new min and max values. When dragging new tags on trends, the y-axis for the trend defaults to the tags inherent min and max properties. User can also temporarily turn on the y-axis auto-scaling function. Permanently changes the trend display's y-axis scale by right-clicking and editing y-axis properties.

Easily Change Number of Trends

Effortlessly add new trends to a display by simply right-clicking on a trend and selecting the desired number of trends. This enables users to change a 4 trend display to an 8 or 12 trend display in less than a second.
