Capstone has experienced personnel in developing several simulation models for the pulp and paper industry. This experience includes using tools such as GEMS (General Energy and Material Simulator) in combination with statistical tools like FACTNET, and SAS in order to model a particular facility or enterprise wide modeling for international corporations. Recent models completed include, brown stock washing which implemented the concept of Norden Efficiency factor, detailed evaporator design and evaluation modules, and detailed power system design modules, facility closure analysis, and economic evaluations of alternate business strategies.
